About us

Our story

With  over 20 years collective experience in the green industry in one of the first EV charging companies in the UK,  we know firsthand how tough it is to work in a small company.  There's never enough time, money, or resources to focus on anything beyond driving sales and cutting costs.

We also know how overwhelming sustainability can be.  Understanding the endless acronyms is hard enough, without having to also navigate through the sea of projects, products, and suppliers.

Two things really bugged us.  The fact that all the focus on going green was around measuring and setting targets, with little or no action actually being taken.  Plus the consultancies that could really help smaller businesses were too expensive and geared towards providing support to larger companies.

We hate greenwashing, and we hate inequality.  So, we set ourselves the challenge to help smaller businesses go green in a way that's practical, affordable, and actually makes a difference.

Our Co-Founders

As Jarred had run two small businesses and Gill had worked in a large FMCG company for 15 years, they brought different viewpoints to their 10 years helping Pod Point scale from start up to an IPO. Through that time their frustrations around the complexity and inequity for smaller businesses became a passion that led them to launch Wadi.

Why Wadi

A Wadi is an Arabic name for a dry riverbed that fills during the rainy season. The water and plant life is critical for nomadic tribes, so the Wadi becomes a gathering place for people and animals to share resources.

Inspired by this, we are creating a place where a community of experts come together with smaller businesses to share their expertise and help in a sustainable way.

Our sponsorship model increases that collaboration, with larger customers able to sponsor their suppliers to become Wadi members, helping them to reduce their emissions.

We love this idea.  Everyone benefits.

If you’re looking to support your suppliers in reducing their emissions, and tackle your own scope 3 challenge, get in touch.
